If you’re moving from QuickBooks to Fynlo, you can import your existing records to keep your financial history complete and accurate.
What Data Can You Import?
You can import the following data into Fynlo:
- Clients / Customers
- Products or Services
- Invoices
- Expenses
Step 1: Export Your Data from QuickBooks
- Log in to your QuickBooks account
- Go to Reports or Settings
- Select the data you want to export (e.g., invoices or customers)
- Export the file as a CSV file
Step 2: Import the File into Fynlo
- Log in to Fynlo
- Go to the module where you want to import data (e.g., Invoices or Clients)
- Click Import
- Upload your CSV file exported from QuickBooks
Step 3: Map Your Fields
During import, you’ll be asked to match columns from your file to fields in Fynlo. For example:
- Customer Name → Client Name
- Invoice Date → Date
- Total Amount → Amount
Review this carefully to ensure data is imported correctly.
What If Your Data Can’t Be Imported?
Sometimes, your QuickBooks file may fail to import because:
- Required columns are missing
- Column names don’t match Fynlo’s format
- The file structure is different from what Fynlo expects
If this happens, you can fix it by using Fynlo’s sample template.
Fixing Import Errors Using the Fynlo Sample Template
1. Download the Sample Template
In the import page, download the sample CSV template (for example, the Invoice template). This file shows the exact format required by Fynlo.
2. Open Both Files
Open:
- Your exported QuickBooks CSV file
- The Fynlo sample template
3. Copy Data from QuickBooks
Copy the relevant data such as:
- Client Name
- Invoice Date
- Item Description
- Amount
4. Paste Data into the Fynlo Template
Paste the data into the matching columns in the Fynlo template. Make sure:
- Each column matches the correct field
- Required columns are not left blank
5. Save and Upload Again
Save the completed template as a CSV file and upload it again in Fynlo.
This method ensures your file follows the correct structure and prevents import errors.
Tips for a Smooth Migration
- Import data in stages (clients first, then invoices)
- Keep a backup of your QuickBooks export
- Test with a small sample file before importing everything
